A friend once told me "You should move to where you always vacation; that way you'll enjoy each day to its fullest." So my husband George and I and our two feline boys, Bugher and Scooter, did just that!!
It's not unusual to hear many residents of Florida say they're from somewhere else. George and I moved from Indiana after a long career in the Telecom Industry. During that time, we personally bought, sold, and rented properties for investment purposes.
Deciding what community in Florida turned out to be an adventure. We visited Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Port St. Lucie along the east coast Atlantic Beach communities down to West Palm Beach, then went inland, through Mt. Dora down to Lakeland, and finally traveled along the Gulf Coast communities of Apalachicola, through the coastal towns of Cedar Key and Homosassa, then finally down through Sarasota, Venice, Englewood, Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda. We found our ideal home in Port Charlotte, along the Myakka River in 1997. Back in 1997 this area of Florida had the best value and still does today!
